Canterbury Cathedral

Friday the 5th of March, I went with my whole class to Canterbury, Great Britain. It was a really nice experience. We went by bus, wich was really amusing, because everybody was happy and in a good mood.
When we arrived in Canterbury we firstly went to the Butter Market. The Butter Market was nice and full of very old Medieval houses.
After that we went to the Canterbury Tales. The Canterbury Tales contains some nice stories, but unfortunately it was a long during tour and the statues weren't that fine I thought.
But the best highlight of all was the Canterbury Cathedral. The Cathedral was really impressive. It was probably the biggest i've ever seen. It was built founded by St. Augistine in 597. The Cathedral is built in the shape of a cross, which was really extra-ordinary. We had a nice tour guide, who told us a lot about the cathedral, however she had scary teeth. The Cathedral is also very famous because of the archbishop of Canterbury: Thomas a becket. He was very loyal to God, however he got murdered by some knights. Nowadays there has been built a crypt for Thomas a Becket as a pilgramige and a memorial.
The cathedral had a lot of beautiful stained glass windows, ceilings and statues.
When we firstly walked into the nave, I was seriously impressed. The nave had a really high and very nice decorated ceiling. Also very nice was the lady chapel, because it was beautiful decorated and had a very nice golden statue of the St. John eagle.
It was a very impressive trip and one to keep in mind.

p.s. Sorry, I couldn't find out how to publish any photographs.
